Back to the regularly scheduled Sea Art

I am so drawn to the sea. Perhaps it is because I was born in March as a Pisces (although I am not too ‘into’ the whole astrological thingy ma bob), perhaps it was my grandfathers work with boats and taking us out or that we went to the beach for vacation. Whatever it is, it is me.  We will go this year in a few weeks. I will come home with more ideas, but for now – here are some recent paintings ;

Crabby Amigos

So it’s friday the men are on a fishing trip at the beach so there is a little more time for getting Ready for Saturday’s big event at the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival in N. Wilkesboro, NC. Where is that you ask? Literally in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  While fall has not quite arrived here – mornings are crisp at around 64 degrees, the days are high 70s to 80s. It is a great time of year for an event like this !

I also found out yesterday that pretty soon I will need to decide on a ‘new name’ for myself – kinda like mom, mommy or mother – but a little grander…. more on that another day.

Because of all this excitement, I didn’t manage to get to bed until 11:30 – late pour moi… and so I painted these three little men.  LIke a lot of things that i do, i hated it for the first 15 minutes. What was I thinking ? Green on Orange and the shapes were way off… but this morning, I ADORE them.

I hope your weekend is as wonderful as I believe mine will be – looking forward to exhibiting.

Body of work- Beachlife and Freshfish

In an effort to grow the body of work that I call Beachlife , this little pair finished yesterday will be added to the pile. I will never tire of giving fish , crabs and other sea creatures their own character marks- they just make me happy. Hope you all have a great PPF and weekend.

Without water, I would have no art…

20130109-073002.jpg

This little crabby was created with the amazing Derwent light wash water solvable graphite pencil – and the sunset is Caran d arche crayon. I love art supplies and I love the ocean- they mix pretty well don’t you think?

Have a very artful day .

They’re back… more creatures from the deep blue sea

I think it is because I am a Pisces. Not being ‘into’ astrology, and having no clue what that really means – I do love the ocean. I love the sand. I love the sunshine and all the cool things that wash up on the beach. Even the ‘gross’ jelly fish are cool – you just can’t get too close.

That said, this morning was crabby morning – not in a bad mood- just felt like crab-ing it a bit. This is crabby love I. There is a two, but I am only sharing one. The other feels ‘unfinished’.

Have a lovely crabby day .
